DECEMBER 30, 2020
(Email to the congregation on 12/30/20)
Dear Redeemer Church Family,
This past year has been a challenging one, to say the least. In spite of the many unexpected hurdles we’ve had to cross, you have remained faithful and fervent in your commitment to Christ and to this part of His Body known as Redeemer Church. Thank you so very much for your patience, your understanding, and your unwavering commitment to this uniquely wonderful body of believers.
As you’ve no doubt become aware, COVID infection/hospitalization/death rates are skyrocketing around the country and right here in our own great state of Georgia. Some of our area hospitals are filled to capacity with no room left in their ER’s and ICU’s. The start of mass vaccination has given us much to look forward to in hope, but it will be some time before the majority of folks in our community are protected from the virus.
It’s also been the case that we’ve had a few folks at Redeemer recently test positive—a couple of them recently who attended both Christmas Eve services and Sunday, December 27, worship but only discovered December 30th that they were COVID positive. (If you were at either of those two worship gatherings, we would strongly encourage you to get a COVID test at your earliest convenience out of an abundance of caution.)
The Redeemer Session is committed to ensuring your safety and wellbeing—both spiritually and physically. The welfare of the flock that God has entrusted to our care as your Elders is one of our highest priorities. You matter a great deal to us! With that in mind, and in light of recent developments both in the lives of Redeemers and in the community at large, the Session has made the following decision:
“Beginning Sunday, January 3, 2021, we will return to virtual worship with Pastor David and the Worship/AV team conducting the service via live-stream at 10:30 a.m. This will continue until further notice as we evaluate further action based on changing COVID infection, hospitalization and death rates.”
We will also be planning to host some Zoom fellowship gatherings online during this time so that we can stay as well-connected as possible. Please look for more information to follow and plan to join your fellow Redeemers for a great time of fun and safe fellowship.
Thanks, again, for your understanding and for your faithfulness to the life and ministry of Redeemer Church!
Yours in Christ,
Redeemer Church Session
